The Gerneral tab allows you to customize the operation of some universal operations of the program.

Inch or metric

Select from Inch or Metric as the default unit of measurements. This will change all settings throughout the program , from the ruler, to the transform box. Units pertaining to stitch generation are not affected (density, step length etc...)

Default Style (Embroidery Settings)

We have created many different pre-made styles  for you to choose from , these settings work well for the type of fabric selected. You can choose which you would like to be as the default, or you can create your own default set. Creating a Style is a more advanced operation and you should get more familiar with the operation of the program before creating a custom style

Default Colors from Thread

Choose which thread manufacturer you would like to use as the default color selection. You can create a custom thread palette if you prefer. Under the Tools >>Palette Creator  Section

Match  colors to current pallet for Stitch files

Some Stitch files such as  XXX, PES and others contain the actual thread colors in the stitch files, Some such as DST, EXP and others do not. In the even that the stitch file selected contains the color information, this box allows the CORE program to match the indicated color to the current closest color in the palette you have selected. In the even t  that there is no color information , the system will use the default colors for that palette

Match colors on loading Punch file designs

Most Punch  files such as  RDE, ERF and others contain the actual thread colors in the file. This box allows the CORE program to match the indicated color to the current closest color in the palette you have selected.

Default Image Editing Program

Core allows you to designate an image editing program of you choosing, The default is Paint because it comes included in all Windows installations. If you have a more sophisticated drawing tool such as Corel, PhotoShop, you can select that as the image editor. The image editor is for raster images such as BMP, JPG etc.. there is no need for an image editor for vector files as the vectors are directly editable within the CORE program,

Default Language

Choose your language preference

Import environment

Allows you to import a backup of your custom files you have made earlier

Export environment

This option allows you to create a backup of any custom configurations you have made to the program, This does not back up your embroidery designs.
If you have created custom fonts, custom thread palettes, fills, etc... You will want to export the environment periodically and save a copy, If you should ever need to move to another computer, reinstall, or experience a catastrophic failure of the pc, this will be the only way to restore your custom settings.

You should store this backup on an external source such as a cloud server, Drop Box, Usb thumb drive  or some other device. In the event  your computer crashes, you will be happy that you did.
